What Does Your Chruch Need
Friday Apr 08, 2022
Friday Apr 08, 2022
Today’s podcast asks “How do pastors and elders know what they should do?” Much of what we do in church in based on tradition. But the problem with tradition is that tradition just tells us what to do, it does not tell us why we do what we do. Is there a better guide?
Dean Davis suggest that an application of the basic commands of Jesus, carried out the way the first church, the church at Jerusalem carried them out, can be an effective pattern for us today. He answers the question about knowing what to do in church by saying, “As a church planter and church leader, you will know what you need to do for your church if you remember and strengthen the nine activities of a church described in Acts 2:37-47.”

The beauty is when lives are touched and changed by the salvation they experience! You are planting churches that represent souls serving Jesus. That is the fruit of your labor that will continue on as they too lead others to Christ.

What is a Church
Friday Apr 08, 2022
Friday Apr 08, 2022
We often talk about churches as if they are buildings. But when the Bible talks about churches, it’s not talking about buildings. A church is a group of people who follow Jesus together. Churches today do what the very first church, the church in Jerusalem did. Churches proclaim the Good News of Jesus, baptize believers, have fellowship together, worship and pray, and celebrate the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Jesus’ death and resurrection; churches teach and obey God’s word, and churches give generously.
Today’s podcast is about churches, and more specifically, about how to plant healthy, balanced churches

The Character of a Leader Set Apart
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Godly leaders aspire to be vessels for honorable use, human receptacles who are useful for our Master, the Lord Jesus. In this passage he urges us to not only “keep away” from bad habits and behaviors but to also pursue characteristics that align with the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). You see, holy living is not about legalism and simply adhering to a set of restrictions. While there are things that we are to avoid, it’s also exemplified by many positive attitudes and behaviors.

Your Legacy
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
There is a song called; “May All Those Who Come Behind Us Find Us Faithful.” It speaks of the legacy we leave behind. Legacy simply means, something that's passed on to someone else from their predecessors. What inheritance will we leave behind for those who walk with and follow us? What will be the legacy we leave?
Legacy is like the mantle, a spiritual covering representing God's anointing and authority. As we live this out before others, we can be assured that as they watch closely, they too will receive this covering and anointing called a legacy.

The Character of a Leader Tolerance for Amiguity
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Good and godly leaders must learn how to deal with ambiguity, or uncertainty, and in the midst of these circumstances learn how to listen to and discern the direction of the Holy Spirit. In my humanness, I do not like ambiguity or uncertainty. But, life is often – well usually - not like that. The positive aspect of this is that this uncertainty forces me to lean upon, or lean into, the Lord.
